Paytm registers transaction worth Rs 5000 cr post demonetisation

Paytm, a booming online payment platform has been in the limelight since demonetisation. In the month of January, the company registered transactions worth Rs 5,000 crore.

The transaction in terms of volume stood at 200 million in January, which was about 11 per cent up from December. The company has achieved a huge number of customer base in a very short period. Also, the company recently, has launched offline transaction in the previous month. 

More than 65 per cent transactions were in the offline category in the month of January. The company's merchant network currently is in over 450 districts and the company is also planning to reach the milestone of 650 districts by 2017.

Paytm currently has 4.5 million merchants at present and is planning to gradually grow it to 10 million by 2017. According to reports, the company is also looking forward to launch its payments bank by the end of this month.
