In a fortifying move against Reliance Jio's rebated charges, Bharti Airtel announced scrapping of the roaming charges for Airtel customers with no charges on incoming calls/SMS and no premium on outgoing calls. The company has also decided to do away with the additional charges on national data roaming. The scheme will be valid from April 1, 2017 onwards.
Reliance Jio provides a rebate of free voice calls on their own networks and no national roaming charges, along with free voice calls on other networks too, that will expire on April 1, 2017.
This price strife in the telecom industry has led to a slow death of national roaming charges.
Furthermore, Bharti Airtel also launched affordable international roaming packs with convenient validity period. Airtel will also provide an automatic back-up plan post the expiration of the customer's original plan. Moreover, the call charges have been lowered by upto 90 per cent to as low as Rs 3/minute and data charges by 99 per cent to Rs 3/MB at most popular roaming destinations.
