Lupin gets a go ahead from USFDA for scalp treatment drug

On Wednesday, Lupin launched Clobetasol Propionate Tropical Solution, USP, 0.05 per cent, for which it has received approval from United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA), which is a generic version of Fougera Pharmaceuticals’ Temovate (Clobetasol Propionate) Scalp Application, 0.05 per cent, as per their announcement made to the Exchange.

Clobetasol Propionate Tropical Solution, USP, 0.05 per cent is indicated for short-term topical treatment of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of moderate nature, to serve corticosteroid-reponsive dermatoses of the scalp. It is an AT rated generic equivalent of Fougera Pharmaceuticals’ Temovate (Clobetasol Propionate) Scalp Application, 0.05 per cent.

Lupin also added that Temovate (Clobetasol Propionate) Scalp Application had US sales of USD 64.1 million (IMS MAT December 2016).

Lupin’s  stock which opened for trading on BSE for Rs 1469.45 has risen 0.49 per cent, and is trading around Rs 1476.65 mark with an intraday day high of Rs 1481.95.
