Essar Power confirmed the attainment of full capacity utilisation by its newly commissioned Hazira plant. Commissioned three months ago, Essar Power's Hazira plant, a 2x135 MW power project operating in Hazira, is a subsidiary of Essar Power.

The plant has an operational capacity that enables it to simultaneously run on fuels like coal, corex fines and corex gas, besides also being able to utilise gases from process units of steel making operations. Moreover, the plant is also functional in bringing down Essar Steel's power procurement cost. Moreover, Essar Steel also saw an increase in its capacity utilisation from 30 per cent to 80 per cent  in a year. Essar Power, while adding to the group's profit, also has achieved 80 per cent of its targeted capacity of 6,100 MW, comprising captive and IPP assets.

An increase in the coal availability through both domestic and overseas supply along with Essar Power's operational efficiency, has aided the company to reach new milestones over last two years.
