Contrasting the wholesale price index trend, the consumer price index (CPI) surfaced at 3.65 per cent on a year-on-year basis, with the CPI at 4.97 per cent in the same period last year.

The combined fuel and light inflation stooped to a 3.90 per cent in February, 2017 in comparison with 3.42 per cent in the last month. While the clothing and footwear inflation fell to a 4.38 per cent in February in comparison with a 4.71 per cent in the prior month. Making an exception, the cereals and products inflation saw an increase at 5.30 per cent lieu of 5.23 per cent as in the prior month. While, the sugar and confectionery inflation also rose to a 18.83 per cent from 18.69 per cent in the last month. The fruits inflation too rose to 8.33 per cent from a 5.81 per cent.      

The milk and products inflation dropped by a negligible margin at 4.22 per cent in comparison with 4.23 per cent in the last month. The pulses and products price inflation stood at -9.02 per cent in comparison with a -6.62 per cent in the previous month. The urban consumer housing inflation also dropped from  5.02 per cent in the last month to a 5.02 per cent in February.
