AMFI anticipates equity MFs will reach Rs 10 trillion in two years

The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI)  is expecting that the equity-linked mutual funds may jump to Rs 10 trillion. Currently, assets portfolio of mutual fund is around Rs 6.4 trillion.

Top official from AMFI said recently, that the industry’s overall number is probably to reach 10 crores in couple of years.

He further added, that the total equity AUM of the fund houses is nearly at Rs 18 trillion, and will probably go beyond Rs 20 trillion in the next financial year, adding that the total folio number is about to get doubled to Rs 10 crore from current 5.25 crore.

The industry may also see the Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) growing by 2.3 crore over the next two years from its present level of 1.3 crore. As of now, the monthly flow that is coming in SIP is at around Rs 4,200 crore.

This year, AUM of the fund industry has shot up by 42 per cent year on year to Rs 17.9 trillion from Rs 12.6 trillion last year.
