The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Thursday asked Jio to withdraw the three months complimentary offer of 'JIO Summer Surprise.'

On March 31, JIO had announced its summer surprise offer. Under this offer, all JIO prime members making their first recharge with Rs 303 or higher plans got three months complimentary services in addition to the benefits of their purchased plan.

JIO has decided to fully obey the regulator’s advice and will be withdrawing the three months complimentary benefits of Jio Summer Surprise as soon as operationally feasible, over the next few days.

However the company announced, “those who have already subscribed for the JIO summer surprise offer will remain eligible for the offer.”

The impact of withdrawal of this offer was visible in Friday’s trade as the shares of Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular hiked by 2 per cent and 3 per cent respectively, where Bharti Airtel made an intraday high of Rs 349.65 and Idea Cellular shares touched a high of Rs 89.30.
