Nearly 65000 firms in Mumbai switch to GST

While interacting with a leading English daily,a service tax official stated that, nearly 65,000 firms of the close to one lakh companies within the Mumbai zone have already switched to the GST by far.
While interacting with a leading English daily,a service tax official stated that, nearly 65,000 firms of the close to one lakh companies within the Mumbai zone have already switched to the GST by far. This number will aggravate towards month end, the official added.
The deadline for the migration is April 30.
"So far, around 65,000 assessees comprising large-scale service providers, medium and small scale service providers have migrated to GST and we hope that the remaining ones will do so by the month-end," he affirmed.
The service tax department is compartmentalised into seven commissionerates, and the report indicates that around 4500 firms have already switched to GST in Service Tax-V commissionerate alone.
