The board of NTPC has approved the proposal to increase the amount to be raised by issuing bonds in international markets to USD 6 billion (Rs 38117 crore) from USD 4 billion (25878 crore).

The board of directors of NTPC held their meeting on April 19, and have accorded approval for updating and upsizing the fund raising plan. The company will utilise money to finance capital expenditure on new or ongoing projects, coal mining projects, renovation and modernisation of power stations and for permissible end uses.
NTPC has also approved the proposal to issue Notes up to Rs 5000 crore (Rupee denominated bonds) and up to USD 750 million (Rs 4852 crore) equivalent (foreign currency bonds other than Rupee denominated) in the international markets either under the MTN programme or on a standalone basis in one or more tranches.
The share price of NTPC increased 0.18 per cent in early trade, and is trading at Rs 164 on an intraday basis.
