Backed by PSBs, Nifty hits 9300 mark for the first time ever

Bank PSUs rallied the Bank Nifty above the 22000 mark on April 25, 2017, intraday. Most of the private banks too joined the bandwagon. The index hit a record high of 22040 mark, up by 183 points.

Triggered by the northbound public sector banking stocks, Nifty touched 9300 points for the first time ever on April 25, 2017.

Bank PSUs rallied the Bank Nifty above the 22000 mark on April 25, 2017, intraday. Most of the private banks too joined the bandwagon. The index hit a record high of 22040 mark, up by 183 points. Whereas, Punjab National Bank led the banking pack with its stock closing at Rs 161.90, up by 4.35 per cent on the BSE on April 25, 2017.

Among the private banks, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank contributed the most to the Nifty Bank index. ICICI Bank closed at Rs 272.55, up by 1.45 per cent on the BSE on April 25, 2017, whereas, HDFC Bank closed at Rs 1541, up by 0.67 per cent. With Kotak Mahindra Bank as an exception, all the stocks in bank nifty closed in positive on the exchange, moreover, Bank of India, IndusInd Bank, Federal Bank, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank and Kotak bank hit their 52-week highs. 

The BSE Bankex index closed at 25003 level, up by 1.03 per cent, whereas the sensex reached a high of 29,943.24, surged by 0.97 per cent.
