SEBI approves options trading in commodities market

The market regulator, Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI), approved the introduction of options trading in the commodities market on April 26, 2017, in order to facilitate the integration between the spot and derivatives markets.

The specifics of the options trading, such as the agro and non-agro commodities to be traded and the commencement of options trading in commodities market, are yet to be announced.

Additionally, SEBI gave its approval for granting unified licence to the commodity and equity brokers and regulations for monitoring funds up to Rs 500 crore sourced through initial public offerings. Besides, the market regulator also granted permission for instant access to mutual funds with a per day cap of Rs 50,000 and also tie-ups of MFs with payment banks and e-wallets for the purpose. 

From now on, NBFCs with net worth of over Rs 500 crore will be allowed to participate as QIBs.
