The UPA government has always called for an inclusive growth of India and hence social sector reforms have always been the priority of the government. If social imbalances are to be removed then there is no better and an effective tool than Right to Education and this is exactly what the government has done with an increased allocation to the education sector. Allocation to the education sector has been increased 24 per cent to Rs 52057 crore. Of this a major part has been allocated as follows:-
·Rs 21000 crore towards Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. This will help implement the right of children to free and compulsory education.
·Rs 10380 crore for the Mid-day meals scheme in schools
·Rs 2324 crore for Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan
·Rs 5660 crore for Technical Education
·Rs 5254 crore for University Grants Commission
·Rs 943 crore for National Mission in Education through information & communication technology
Budget Impact
This continued government support to the education sector is much appreciated. Considering that over 70 per cent of Indians will be of working age in 2025, the government has rightly supported the sector not only by assuring primary education, but also universalising access to higher education, providing skilled training and last but not the least investing through special grants to recognise excellence in universities and academic institutions, thus making the country’s youth more employable.
We believe that companies related directly or indirectly to the education sector stand to benefit from this massive allocation. Thus companies such as Navneet Publications, Everron, Educomp, Edserv, Sundaram Multipap, Linc Pen & Plastic, Today's Writing Products, even paper companies would benefit from this massive allocation.
