INX Media to Aircel: Cases on Chidambaram pile up

Following the CBI raids on the former Union Minister P. Chidambaram and his son’s properties across India in the INX Media case, a series of other cases and accusations related to the ex-minister have surfaced.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) accused the former minister and his son of gaining illegal benefits from INX Media, also known as 9X Media, for an FIPB clearance of Rs 4 crore. However, INX Media allegedly received an FIPB clearance for Rs 305 crore.
The other allegation include the violation of FEMA regulations by Chimdambaram’s son Karti, who was served a notice for selling his stakes in Vasan Healthcare to foreign investors. The violation was allegedly estimated to be of about Rs 45 crore.
Furthermore, the Enforcement Directorate is also investigating the role of the son-father duo in the Aircel-Maxis case. P Chidambaram is accused of allowing Maxis to acquire 100 per cent stake in Aircel without following the specified procedure.
