Bharti Airtel To Acquire Telenor’s Operations in Seven Circles

Bharti Airtel and Telenor have filed a joint application before the National Company Law Tribunal after getting a go ahead from Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Bharti Airtel is going to acquire Telenor India’s ongoing operations in seven circles, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, UP (East), UP (West) and Assam. The agreement for merger was signed in February 2017.
 
These circles have a high potential for growth due to their high population density. The merger will also give a boost to the 4G services and customer base of Bharti Airtel the 4G services and customer base of Bharti Airtel. Bharti Airtel can use the 2G spectrum for 4G services. and would witness an addition of 43.4 MHz spectrum in the 1800 MHz bank, widely known as 2G spectrum. Airtel would give a tough competition to its peers after the proposed merger.
