Markets in correction mode, sustain marginal losses

On Tuesday, benchmark indices Nifty scaled record high level of 9,709.30 intra-day, while Sensex too touched the record high level of 31430.32 intra-day on Tuesday’s trade.

At the closing bell, Nifty ended at 9,637.15, down by 37.95 points or 0.39 per cent and Sensex closed at 31,190.56, up by 118.93 points or 0.38 per cent. On the NSE, out of 1523 total scrips, 1056 scrips closed in the red, 416 scrips ended the day in the green and 51 scrips remained unchanged.

The BSE Mid-cap index closed at 14732.39, down by 91.67 points or 0.62  per cent and BSE Small-cap index closed at 15310.53, up by 99.42 points or 0.65 per cent.

TCS  was the top gainer in Nifty, closing at Rs 2,705, up by 101.05 points or 3.88 per cent. While Tata Motors was the top Nifty loser which closed at Rs 461.70, down by 16.45 points or 3.44 per cent.

Tata Motors shares dipped by about 4% intra-day after Jaguar Land Rover reported subdued UK sales growth.

Nifty IT closed at Rs 10,907.25, up by 2.32 per cent. TCS, HCL and Infosys were the major contributors.

On the NSE, 70 stocks reported their 52-week highs, while about 37 stocks registered their 52-week lows.
