Oil India Limited Announces Making Hydrocarbon Discovery in the Upper Assam Basin

Oil India Limited (OIL) announced that it has made one Hydrocarbon Discovery, through its exploratory efforts, in the Baghjan Petroleum Mining Lease (PML) in the Upper Assan Basin in the month of May 2017 in the well South Baghjan-2.

Further appraisals of the discovery are planned which is likely to enhance the oil & gas productions through appraisal and development activities. Till then, the well is put on regular production
 
This discovery and the ten discoveries made by OIL in 2016-2017, have opened up avenue for further exploration of already identified leads/prospects in the area.

The stock of the company on the NSE is trading at Rs 298 per share higher by Rs 1.7% or 0.5% and hit an intraday high of Rs 302.70 per share at 1225 hours. It has delivered 13% returns in a period of one year and has underperformed the BSE Sensex and BSE Oil & Gas indices over the same time period.
