Indian Railways Plans to Collaborate with Malaysia for Redeveloping 20 Tier-II stations

A roadmap is being prepared by the Indian Railways to collaborate with Malaysia to redevelop around 20 stations in Tier-II cities across India, reported a leading business daily on Wednesday.
A roadmap is being prepared by the Indian Railways to collaborate with Malaysia to redevelop around 20 stations in Tier-II cities across India, reported a leading business daily on Wednesday. The aim of the project is to attract about Rs 1 lakh crore private investment and is also expected to revamp the infrastructure at platforms as well as circulating areas. Commercial development of station areas is also in focus.
A meeting was recently conducted with the Malaysian officials, in which they expressed interest in the station redevelopment project and it has also been reported that a senior Railway Ministry official has stated that it is looking to forge a long-term partnership with Malaysia on a government-to-government grounds for the same.
An ambitious project offering about 400 stations to be redeveloped in PPP model, has already been launched by the Indian Railways.
