HDFC Bank Likely To Reconsider Decision of Charging UPI Payments

After a request by the National Payments Corporation of India, HDFC Bank is reportedly reconsidering its decision to charge Unified Payments Interface (UPI) based transactions.

The UPI has been receiving importance after the Government of India announced its demonetization scheme and the government is promoting it via BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money).
 
UPI reported 9.2 million transactions for the month of May, as against 6.9 million in the previous month and according to industry experts, imposing such charges may impact adoption of digital payment modes.
