Market may open lower

SGX Nifty index is trading with losses of 31 points at 9,486, indicating a negative start for the Indian markets.

The Indian benchmark indices on Tuesday opened the session on a flattish note, and thereafter, the indices started to display weakness from the highs and witnessed sharp decline for a second consecutive session. The NSE’s 50-share broadly followed index,Nifty declined by about 64 points to settle at 9511, while the Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensitive Index, or Sensex, ended lower by 180 points to settle at 30,958.

The European markets ended Tuesday's session with losses. The DAX of Germany slid 0.79 per cent and the CAC 40 of France fell 0.71 per cent. The FTSE 100 of the UK lost 0.17 per cent.

The US stocks finished lower on Tuesday, The tech-heavy index Nasdaq dropped steeply by over 1.50 per cent to close at 6,147. The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 99 points to end at 21,311. The S&P 500 slid 20 points to 2,419. The US bourses reacted to IMF's lowering its forecast for the world’s largest economy.
 
Asian shares are trading lower in early trade on Wednesday. Japan’s Nikkei 225 has slipped 67 points; Hong Kong’s Hang Seng has plunged 207 points, while China’s Shanghai Composite is trading lower by 11 points.
