AUM to touch Rs 95 lakh crore by 2025: AMFI

According to A. Balasubramanian, Chairman AMFI and CEO, Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, if the mutual fund industry grows at the current rate, it will easily touch the Rs 95 lakh crore mark by 2025. These estimates by AMFI were revealed at the first AMFI Mutual Fund Summit 2017 held in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Courtesy the high-voltage equity markets environment in India and the positive sentiments globally, the assets under management (AUM) for the mutual fund (MF) industry is expected to swell.

According to A. Balasubramanian, Chairman AMFI and CEO, Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, if the mutual fund industry grows at the current rate, it will easily touch the Rs 95 lakh crore mark by 2025. These estimates by AMFI were revealed at the first AMFI Mutual Fund Summit 2017 held in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The MF industry AUM has already touched Rs 20 lakh crore. The estimates given by the AMFI chairman assumes a CAGR of almost 23 percent, which is also the growth rate enjoyed by the industry for the past five years. AMFI chairman believes that a similar growth rate can be maintained for the coming years.

As on March 2017, the MF industry had 5.60 crore folios and AMFI estimates that the industry will have over 13.3 crore folios by 2025.
