RIL gains 2.75% and props up falling market, Axis Bank biggest Sensex loser

BSE Sensex closed at 31209.79, down by 11.83 points or 0.04 per cent, while the Nifty shut shop at 9623.30 levels, down by 1.70 points or 0.02 per cent.

Reliance Industries (RIL) closed at Rs 1422, up by 2.75 per cent, thus arresting the Sensex fall. HDFC gained 1.28 per cent and Kotak Bank was up by 1.10 per cent. 

Axis Bank was the top Sensex loser, sliding 2.08 per cent. Hero Moto Corp was down by 2.04 per cent and Dr Reddy's lost 1.88 per cent of its share price closing at Rs 2630 per share, while ITC was down by 1.52 per cent. 

BSE Auto index was down by 0.48 per cent, BSE Healthcare slipped by 0.73 per cent and BSE Realty managed to close at Rs 2060 level, down by 0.64 per cent. 

The BSE Oil & Gas index was the top performing index, up by 0.56 per cent. BSE IT index gained by 0.33 per cent even as BSE Metal index managed to close in the green, with a gain of 0.06 per cent.
