Benchmark indices close at record highs; 85 stocks touch their 52-W high on NSE

Even as Indian benchmark indices follow the global indices and close at record highs there were as many as 85 stocks that touched their 52-W high in today’s session on NSE. Monday’s trading session was marked by the unexpected shut down of trades at NSE owing to technical glitch. The trading session smoothed only in the second half of the day.
 
NSE Nifty closed at 9,763 up by 97 points, and BSE Sensex closed higher by 329 points at 31,690. BSE Mid-cap index inched up by 0.69% at 15,044. BSE Small-cap index closed higher by 0.43% at 15,899. There were 965 advances, 516 declines and 472 unchanged stocks on NSE.
 
TCS, Bank of Baroda, Tata Motors and Tata Power are the top Nifty gainers, whereas Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC, ITC and Eicher Motors were the top Nifty losers.  

BSE Telecom index was top gainer among sectoral indices on BSE followed by BSE IT index. BSE Telecom index closed at 1,392 level, up by 51 points or 3.88%.
 
RCom was the top gainer in the telecom index closing at Rs 24.2 per share, up by 6.37%.  Airtel closed at Rs 405 per share, up by 5.29%.  BSE Telecom index also touched its 52-W high in today’s trading session.
