Liquor stocks gained momentum and started rallying upwards after the Supreme Court clarified that the ban on the sale of alcohol within 500 m of any state or national highway will not cover roads within city limits if they lose the highway tag post denotification.

The market cheered the news with Pioneer Distilleries soaring by 3.3% at Rs 218.00 per share, Tilaknagar Industries up by 13.81% at Rs 14.42 per share, United Breweries was up by 1.0% at Rs 809.55 per share, United Spirits was up 1.0% at Rs 2,666.50 per share and Som Distilleries and Breweries was up 1.5% at Rs 127.50 per share.
BSE Sensex traded at 31,804 level gaining 0.18% and Nifty traded at 9805 level gaining 0.20%.
