Key indices may open flat

Key benchmark indices are likely to open on a flat note following subdued cues across Asian peers and mixed performance on Wall Street in overnight trade. The Singapore traded SGX Nifty is quoting at 9,972 up by 9 points, also hinting a flat start for the markets.
Indian benchmark indices ended Monday’s session at all-time high levels with more than half a per cent gains, where Nifty50 index ended above its major resistance of 9,930 mark. Sensex too broke its prior peak of 32,132 and closed at 32,246 gaining 217 points. PSU Banks surged 1.5 per cent and IT followed with decent gains of 1 per cent. Index pivotal Reliance Industries continued to move up for the second straight day and gained 2.1 per cent, while TCS followed with 2 per cent gains.
The majority of European indices ended the first trading day of the fresh week with losses. The DAX of Germany slipped 0.25. The CAC 40 of France rose 0.20 per cent. The FTSE 100 of the U.K. plummet 1.02 per cent.
U.S. stock witnessed a choppy trading session on Monday as traders seemed hesitant to make any significant moves ahead of the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy announcement scheduled on Wednesday. The Dow Industrials and the S&P 500 closed with marginal losses and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite logged a record closing. The Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 6,411 up by 23 points. The Dow Jones Industrial shed 67 points to close at 21,513 and the S&P slid 3 points to 2,470.
Asian markets were trading subdued in early trade on Tuesday; Hong Kong Hang Seng has gained 13 points to 26,860 followed by China’s Shanghai Composite which has advanced 6 points to 3,257. While Japan’s Nikkei 225 has dipped 126 points to 19,950.
