Reliance Defence and Engineering launches first two NOPVs from Pipavav shipyard

The two NOPVs are part of five ships under P-21 project being constructed for the Indian Navy by RDEL (Reliance Defence and Engineering Limited).
On Tuesday, Reliance Defence and Engineering launched the first two Naval Offshore Patrol Vessels (NOPVs) NS001 & NS002 at their shipyard in Pipavav, Gujarat.
The two NOPVs are part of five ships under P-21 project being constructed for the Indian Navy by RDEL (Reliance Defence and Engineering Limited). RDEL is the first private shipyard in India to obtain defence production license and sign a contract for defence ships in 2011, said the company in a BSE filing on Tuesday.
One training ship and 14 Fast Petrol Vessels (FPVs) for the Indian Coast Guard are also being constructed by RDEL. The five NOPVs being constructed at Reliance Shipyard are patrol ships and are armed with 76mm Super Rapid Gun Mount (SRGM) system along with two 30mm AK-630 guns which provide medium range and short-range offensive and defensive capabilities.
At Rs 61.05, Reliance Defence and Engineering was trading up by Rs 0.40 or 0.66% as of 1433 hours on Tuesday, on the BSE.
