Post Market Summary
The markets witnessed another day of flat trades today to close on a flat note. The Sensex closed for the day higher at 18,584 gaining 72 points and the Nifty added 23 points to end the day at 5,565. On the sectoral front almost all the indices closed in green barring only the capital goods index. The main gainers for the day are Realty and Metal indices gaining more than one percentage points followed by Auto and Consumer Durables indices. Market breadth was positive with 1,631 advances against 1,219 declines. On the global front European stocks rose for a second day as better-than-estimated results from A.P. Moeller-Maersk A/S to Hermes International (RMS) SCA boosted confidence in the economic recovery. Asian shares and U.S. index futures also gained. Maersk jumped 4.5 percent as the owner of the world’s largest container line said net income surged 85 percent. Hermes gained 7.8 percent after sales increased as wealthy consumers purchased more luxury watches and fragrances. ITV Plc (ITV) slid 3.2 percent as the U.K.’s biggest commercial broadcaster forecast slowing advertising revenue growth.
