Indian benchmark induces NSE Nifty and BSE Sensex closed at record highs levels today, with Nifty closing above the landmark 10,000 level for the first time ever. BSE Sensex closed at 32,382, up by 154 points or 0.48 per cent, while Nifty closed at the 10020-mark, with gain of 56 points or 0.56 per cent.
Tata Steel was the top Sensex gainer on Wednesday, up by 2.22 per cent, followed by Sun Pharma and ICICI Bank, which gained 2.08 per cent and 2.07 per cent, respectively. M&M, Cipla, Hindustan Uniliver, NTPC and RIL also gained more than 1 per cent each.
Axis Bank was the top Sensex loser, slipping 2.90 per cent. Asian Paints closed with a loss of 1.43 per cent.
BSE Metal was the top sectoral index performer, gaining 1.74 per cent. BSE Healthcare index was up by 0.80 per cent. BSE Telecom index was the worst performer, along with BSE IT index.
