Markets End on a Flat Note

 Post Market Summary

Today Indian market ended flat-to-negative after two consecutive positive closing. Lackluster cues from the global markets forced further dampening the sentiments and the benchmark indices closed slightly in red after a completely directionless trading session. The market heavyweight such as ONGC, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Indian Oil Corporation, BPCL and National Aluminium Company announced their Q4 results. Due to lower than expected results for these companies, the market could not gain the losses till end of the session. The health care, consumer durable and realty indices were the gainers and were up by 2.24, 2.01 and 1.77 percent respectively. While the auto and oil & gas indices were closed in red and down by 1.50 and 0.64 percent respectively. The benchmark indices Nifty and Sensex were closed at 5,473 and 18,232, down marginally by 0.05 and 0.19 percent respectively. Surprisingly the overall market breadth was positive with 1,629 advances against 1,150 declines.
