Goa to amend State Highway Act, provide relief to liquor vendors

Goa’s Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar assured the House on Tuesday that the State Highway Act would be amended to give relief to liquor vendors located in the city, reported a national news agency.

According to the Act, roads passing through Goa’s cities will not be considered as highway, eventually providing a sigh of relief to the liquor vends situated in the city.
 
Meanwhile, the liquor stocks were buzzing on the bourses during Wednesday’s trade. Pioneer Distilleries was trading up by 4.52% at Rs 230 per share, Radico Khaitan was trading up by 3.63% at Rs 147.20 per share, G M Breweries was trading up by 2.73% at Rs 436.70 per share, Winsome Breweries was trading up by 2.04% at Rs 8.50 per share and Globus Spirits was trading up by 1.77% at Rs 72.10 per share as at 1135 hours on Wednesday on the BSE.
