Metal stocks display a mixed pattern

Metal stocks were witnessing mixed sentiments during Thursday’s trade on the BSE. The BSE Metal index was trading at the 12,962 level, up by 36.28 points or 0.28% as at 1141 hours.

Hindalco was the gainer and was up by 1.52% at Rs 243 per share. Hindalco was also contributing most to help the index hold its gains. National Aluminium Co. was the top loser and was down by 3.20% at Rs 68.10.
NMDC was up 1.35% at Rs 127.95 and the stock witnessed a spurt in volume by more than 1.40 times while Tata Steel was up 0.88 at Rs 610.35 and Vedanta was up 0.95% at Rs 302.45. Hindustan Zinc, Jindal Steel and Power, JSW Steel, Steel Authority of India, and Coal India were among the slipping stocks.
