BSE Metal index declines over 2%

The BSE Metal index declined over 2% during Friday’s and was trading at the 12,546.36 level, down by 194.09 points or 1.52% as at 1205 hours.

Vedanta was the top loser and was trading down by 3.56% at Rs 288.20 per share. The stock was contributing most to the index losses. Among other metal stocks, Hindalco Industries was down by 3.43% at Rs 229.65, Steel Authority of India was down 1.27% at Rs 58.15, NMDC was down 0.53% at Rs 120.95, Tata Steel was down 0.71% at Rs 600.25, and Coal India was down by 0.42% at Rs 238.05.
Meanwhile, Jindal Steel and Power was trading at Rs 127.80 per share, up by Rs 4.60 or 3.73%. Hindustan Zinc and JSW Steel were also trading in green.
