Taking investors unaware and creating ripples at the bourses is the news that Vishal Sikka, who headed Infosys, has resigned from the post of MD and CEO of the company.

Taking investors unaware and creating ripples at the bourses is the news that Vishal Sikka, who headed Infosys, has resigned from the post of MD and CEO of the company. His resignation has been accepted by the company’s board and he has been appointed Executive Vice Chairman.

Meanwhile, U B Pravin Rao, the current Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed as the Interim-Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Infosys. Incidentally, there were unconfirmed reports that Infosys’ founder N R Narayana Murthy had claimed in an email that he had been told by at least three independent directors of the company about Vishal Sikka being more suitable as a CTO than CEO.

Of late, several differences related to company policies between the founders Narayana Murthy, Kris Gopalakrishnan, S D Shibulal, and others and Vishal Sikka had been reported in the media. In his resignation letter, Sikka has stated, “Over the last many months and quarters, we have all been besieged by false, baseless, malicious and increasingly personal attacks – allegations that have been repeatedly proven false and baseless by multiple, independent investigations. But despite this, the attacks continue, and worse still, amplified by the very people from whom we all expected the most steadfast support in this great transformation.”
