Nandan Nilekani may return to Infosys

On the back of news that Nandan Nilekani may return to head Infosys, the company’s stock has jumped in the afternoon hours on Wednesday to touch an intraday high

On the back of news that Nandan Nilekani may return to head Infosys, the company’s stock has jumped in the afternoon hours on Wednesday to touch an intraday high of Rs 904 per share, up by 3.06%. There was also an increase in the traded volume of the stock.
 
Nilekani became the chief executive officer (CEO) of Infosys in March 2002 and served in that position through April 2007, when he relinquished his position to his colleague Kris Gopalakrishnan and became co-chairman of the board of directors.
 
Before assuming leadership as CEO in 2002, Nilekani held various posts, including managing director, president, and chief operating officer. During his five-year tenure as CEO, Infosys’ topline grew six-fold to around USD 3 billion.
 
Nilekani left Infosys in July 2009 to serve as chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India, a cabinet-ranking position offered by former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. As of June 2017, Nandan Nilekani, as promoter of Infosys, holds 2,13,83,480 shares with total shareholding of 0.93% of the total number of shares.
