Based on an enterprise survey of 3,500 manufacturing firms across Indian states and union territories, NITI Aayog has launched the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ report, informed a government release on Monday. The survey has been conducted, along with the IDFC Institute, to assess business regulations and the enabling environment across India from the firms’ perspective.
The survey was released by the Union Minister of Commerce Nirmala Sitaraman and Minister of Law & Justice and Electronics and Information Technology Ravishankar Prasad at a function in the New Delhi on Monday. Senior officials of NITI Aayog were also present on the occasion.
The survey is triggered by the fact that India needs to create an environment that fosters globally competitive firms, capable of driving and sustaining economic growth. Some of the major findings of this report state that informational gaps and labour regulations are big constraints for labour-intensive firms, acting as barriers to firm growth.
