Nifty, Sensex close in negative, Realty stocks fall

Indian Benchmark indices Nifty and Sensex traded with a negative undertone on Monday, ending below their previous close level. Nifty ended at 9912.85 level, down by 61.55 points or 0.62 per cent but above the 9900 mark, whereas S&P BSE Sensex ended at 31702.25 level, down by 189.98 points or 0.60 per cent.
 
On the broader markets, S&P BSE Midcap ended at 15580.42, down by 0.68 per cent, whereas, S&P BSE SmallCap index stood at 16030.15, lower by 0.62 per cent. However, India Vix closed at 13.34, up by 14.26 per cent.  
 
Coal India up by 3.18 per cent was the top Nifty gainer, followed by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Bosch Limited, ONGC, IndiaBulls Housing Finance, UltraTech Cement, Wipro, Reliance Industries Limited and Eicher Motors.
 
The top Nifty loser was IOCL, ending with a loss of 4.33 per cent. Adani Ports, ACC, Tata Motors Limited, Ambuja Cements, Infosys, Tata Power and Bharti Airtel were also instrumental in driving down the index, closing with loses of over 2 per cent.    
 
Nifty Realty was the top losing index among all the sectors. The index closed at 282.90 level, down by 1.65 per cent with Delta Corp and Indiabulls Real Estate as the top losing companies, down by nearly 4 per cent.
 
Nifty Private Bank index was also among the top losing index, down by 0.87 per cent. Most of the private sector banks closed in red, while Indus Ind Bank, Kotak Bank, The Karnataka Bank, South Indian Bank, Axis Bank and Yes Bank down by over 1 per cent.
