Markets may edge lower in early trade

Key benchmarks indices are expected to open lower on negative global cues. The Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange were trading at 10,087 lower by 54 points.
The Indian share markets ended in the red on Thursday, however, recovery in the last leg of trade helped markets to recover from lower levels and end the session with marginal losses. Gains were seen in the Pharmaceuticals and Information Technology stocks. At the end of the day, Nifty lost 19 points and the BSE Sensex ended lower by 30 points.
The European markets ended Thursday’s session mostly higher. The German DAX Index rose 0.25% and the French CAC 40 Index climbed 0.49%. On the other hand, the FTSE 100 of the UK shed 0.11%.
The US’ stocks ended Thursday’s session with losses with the Dow ending its dream run after a nine-day winning streak. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 53 points, the Nasdaq dipped 33 points and the S&P 500 slid 8 points.
Asian stock indexes tumble in early trading on Friday after reports that North Korea is interested in testing a hydrogen bomb in the middle of the Pacific. The Nikkei 225 has slid 58 points, the Hong Kong’s Hang Seng has lost 194 points and the China’s Shanghai Composite has dipped 12 points.
