Markets may open with modest gains

The outlook for the day is a positive opening as cues from Asian market are upbeat and Wall Street also ended in positive terrain in overnight trade. The SGX Nifty were trading 27 points higher at 10,071.

Key benchmark indices eked out modest gains on Tuesday. After starting the session on a firm note, the indices moved in a narrow band throughout the day as market participants refrain from taking fresh bets ahead of the second-quarter earnings. However, buying action was seen in the broader market as secondary barometers, the BSE Mid-Cap and Small-Cap outperformed the benchmark indices. At the end of the day, Nifty managed to reclaim 10,000 mark, while Sensex advanced 78 points to settle at 31,924. 

The European indices ended Tuesday’s session with mixed performance. The FTSE 100 of the UK inched up 0.40%. On the other hand, the French CAC 40 Index shed 0.04% and the German DAX lost 0.21%. 

All main US’ stock indexes closed in the positive terrain on Tuesday, with the Dow finishing at a record high. the Dow Jones Industrial Average moved up 70 points to end at 22,831. The Nasdaq Composite Index edged up 8 points to 6,587 and the S&P 500 gained 6 points to 2,551. 
  
Majority of the Asian markets moved in higher trajectory in the early trade on Wednesday as the Dow Jones logged record closing high. The Nikkei 225 has added 47 points and the Hong Kong’s Hang Seng has climbed 47 points. The China’s Shanghai Composite has lost 2 points.
