Upbeat mood may see markets opening in the green

Key benchmark indices are likely to see positive opening as Asian markets were in the green and the SGX Nifty was up 36 points at 10,247. Market participants will also read into the WPI inflation data for September which is due today and corporate earnings to give further direction to the market later in the day.

Market participants will also read into the WPI inflation data for September which is due today and corporate earnings to give further direction to the market later in the day as a larger number of companies are schedule to announce their earnings today. Corporates such as Bajaj Finance, Delta Corp, DHFL, DCB Bank, Federal Bank, JM Financial, Persistent Systems, Bajaj Finserv, Colgate, Oberoi Realty, Kansai Nerolac, Zee Learn will be in focus today as they are expected to announce earnings today. 

Markets across Asia have advanced in early trades on Monday after the US inflation came in higher than anticipated.   Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is leading the region with gains of 0.89%, followed by  Nikkei 225 which has climbed 0.63%, while  China’s Shanghai Composite is flat.  

Back home, Dalal Street celebrated early Diwali on Friday as Nifty logged a new all-time high level of 10,191.90. However, in the late trade, key benchmark indices retraced from their day’s high. At the end of the day, the Sensex settled at its highest closing level since July and Nifty closed at 10,167 with gains of 71 points. The BSE Mid-Cap and the Small-Cap indices underperformed benchmark indices.  

Wall Street ended the last trading session of the week slightly higher on the back of release of upbeat economic data, including a Commerce Department report indicating a substantial increase in retail sales in the month of September. The Nasdaq Composite Index recorded an all-time high and ended the session at 6,606 with gains of 14 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 31 points to end at 22,872, after recording all-time high at 22,905. The S&P 500 index ended at 2,553 with gains of 2 points.   
  
The European markets oscillated between small gains and losses over the course of Friday’ session and ended the session on a subdued note.  The German DAX gained 0.07%. On the other hand, the FTSE 100 of the UK slipped 0.28% and the French CAC 40 index declined 0.17%
