Top infrastructure companies including Larsen & Toubro, Gammon, HCC have received notices from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) threatening them that they would be banned for a period of three years on accounts of failing to execute assigned projects.
NHAI has issued these show cause notices after these companies failed to fulfil the criteria and execute the infrastructure projects awarded by the authority between 2015 and 2017. Twenty highway projects won by these companies were terminated due to default committed by them.
The highway authority has asked these companies to make a presentation before November 6 in response to the show cause notice. If the NHAI debars them they will not be able to bid for EPC, PPP, tolls and road projects until 2019.
The shortlisted companies include Essel Infra Projects, HCC, Gammon MBL Infra, JKM Infra, Madhucon Toll Highways, L&T, Supreme Infra and Transtroy India.
