Government mulls to hike passenger services fee
DSIJ Intelligence / 23 Nov 2017

The aviation ministry may have to hike the levy by approximately Rs. 50 per ticket.
The central government might hike the passenger services fee (PSF) by around 38 per cent to pay for the cost of security at Indian airports.
PSF is charged to the passenger for the deployment of various security measures and to pay for the salaries of CISF personnel posted at the airports. There is a deficit between the dues collected and the actual costs, and the difference is borne by the finance ministry, which has now declined to fund the same. The aviation ministry would thus have to hike the levy to make up for the deficit. Due to this situation, the PSF is expected to be increased by Rs. 50 per ticket.
Meanwhile, aviation stock Spicejet was closed at Rs. 144.20 per share, up 0.95 per cent, InterGlobe Aviation closed at Rs. 1,170.00, up 0.45 per cent, while Jet Airways closed at Rs. 664.00, down 0.83 per cent at post-lunch hours on Thursday.
