Nifty started the day on an optimistic note on the back of positive Asian cues. It made a high of 4975 but could not sustain on higher levels and fell sharply and it took support at 4926. In the afternoon session, Nifty again tried to test 5000 mark, but once again it failed and after making a high of 4980, it fell and finally closed at 4947 with a marginal gain of 0.57 per cent.
