Nifty Skids Below 6000 Mark

The Indian markets, for the first time in the last two weeks, slipped below the magical mark of 6000. Nifty ended negative at 5998, down by 35 points and Sensex ended down by 101 points at 19,793.18. Both the indices ended down in the range of 0.52% to 0.59%.

The advance-decline ratio is strong at this point of time. On NSE, 743 shares are trading in green and 625 shares are trading in red. 

Top 5 NSE Gainers: Bharat Petroleum ends the day as the top gainer on NSE, trading up by 3.45% followed by Dr Reddy’s Labs, Maruti Suzuki, Cipla and Bajaj Auto.

Top 5 NSE Losers: Jaiprakash Associates ended up as the top looser on NSE, down by 4.14% followed by DLF, Bharti Airtel, Ambuja Cement and Hindalco Industires.

Most of the sectors ended down. Consumer Durables and Health Care ended with gains in the range of 0.71%-1.71%. Realty, Metal and Bankex saw profit booking and ended in red.

European Markets inched up today. CAC 40 is trading higher by 0.93%, DAX is trading higher by 0.68% and FTSE 100 is trading higher by 0.51%.

Most of the Asian markets ended on a positive note. China’s Shanghai Composite ended higher by 1.39%, followed by Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Straits Times. KOSPI ended down by 0.21% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng ended flat with a negative bias. 

Buzzers: Phoenix Mills hits a new 52-week high on account of heavy volumes. The stock touched an intraday high of Rs 285 and a low of Rs 275.3. It has seen a good momentum in the last trading session coupled with a rise in volume. In today’s trade, the stock closed with gains of 2.90% at Rs 279.90.

Jai Corp rallied more than 5% in the last hour of the trading session. The stock touched an intraday high of Rs 77.70 and an intraday low of Rs 73. It witnessed a sharp jump in volume in today’s trading session. Its previous day volume stands at 6,60,981 and today’s volume stands at 13,403,99.

Nifty, below 6015, made a low of 5983. Going ahead, the next support for Nifty stands at 5965 and 5935.
