Markets close in the red, still under pressure
Shrikant / 20 Dec 2011
Yet another day ended on a negative note on the street. The markets remained volatile for all of today. There were some signs of recovery during the afternoon session, but the markets fell sharply in an hour’s time in the last session. By the close of the day, the Sensex closed at 15175.08, down by 204 points, while the 50-share Nifty index closed on 4544.2, down by 68 points. It is clear that a bearish trend is haunting the markets, and unless the domestic factors are addressed, there will be no respite.
The Asian markets, which were trading with marginal gains in the morning session, remained volatile for the day. At the end of the day, the Hang Seng and Nikkei closed flat, while Shanghai closed with marginal losses.
European markets are showing a mixed trend in trades at this time. The FTSE is trading marginally down, while the CAC and DAX are seen trading marginally up.
