The Indian market started trades on a positive note today. Both Nifty and Sensex are trading flat with a positive bias in the range of 0.03%-0.05%.
The Indian market started trades on a positive note today. Nifty saw a gap-up opening at 5930.20, and is trading in a rigid range of 10 points. The Sensex is currently at 19,430. Both Nifty and Sensex are trading flat with a positive bias in the range of 0.03%-0.05%.
The Nifty touched a high of 5930.80 and a low of 5904.15. After opening at 19,479.84, the Sensex registered a high of 19,504.40 and a low of 19,415.47.
The market breadth, which indicates the strength of the market, is positive as of now. On the NSE, 692 shares have advanced and 530 shares have declined.
Top 5 NSE Gainers: Tata Motors is among the top gainers, higher by 1.88%, followed by Axis Bank, Maruti Suzuki India, Tata Steel and Lupin.
Top 5 NSE Losers: Coal India is among the top losers so far, trading lower by 0.87%. This was followed by UltraTech Cement, Cairn India, HDFC and HDFC Bank.
7 of the sectoral indices are currently trading higher. Auto, Realty and Metals are among the sectors performing well at this hour of trade, up in range of 0.40%-1%. CD and IT are down in range of 0.20%-0.25% at this point of trade.
The cues from the peer Asian markets are mixed. Nikkei 225 is leading amongst the all markets in the region, trading at 10,337 to hit its 20-month high. Hang Seng and Straits Times are also trading in gains. Shanghai Composite and Taiwan Weighted are in the negative zone.
Buzzers: The stock of Hindustan Oil Exploration (HOEC) registered a high of Rs 108.70 and is now trading up by 5%. The stock gained on news that the Italian petroleum exploration and production company ENI is looking to sell its 47.2% stake in the company to US-based Anadrako Petroleum.
PC Jeweller is trading up by 7.26% at Rs 145 with volumes of 19174834 shares. It lists at a premium on the NSE.
This series has been muted on account of holidays and no major cues from the global market. Today’s early morning trade has been flattish. Some action is likely to be seen at a later stage once we start approaching the expiry. The resistance for Nifty stands at 5931-5945 and the support stands at 5871-5855.
