June WPI Inflation At 7.25%

DSIJ Intelligence / 16 Jul 2012

June 2012 inflation numbers have came in at 7.25% giving little headroom for the RBI to cut rates.

June WPI inflation numbers are at 7.25% against the expectation in the range of 7.6% to 7.8%. The markets have reacted positively to this however they will remain choppy ahead today. Inflation for the May 2012 was 7.55% and hence the current inflation numbers are lower but it may not be sufficient enough for the RBI to go for the rate cut.

One should also watch out for the CPI numbers due on Wednesday this week for more indication on the retail price level.
