Stocks in Action – 29th October 2012

NTPC on Friday reported its September quarter earnings. NTPC’s revenues increased by 5% to Rs 16119 crore and net profit rose by 30% Rs 3142 crore. EBITDA margins also saw some improvement over the September 2011 numbers. Its shares shown a drop in Friday’s trading session but we expect today its shares to show some strength.

Torrent Power on Friday reported a 45.63 per cent drop in its profit to Rs 164crore for the September quarter. Company had reported net profit of Rs 308 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal. On this negative news we expect its shares to shown some decline today.

Shares of ICICI bank may remain in positive territory after its robust Q2 numbers. Company expects 20% growth in it loan book in FY13 which will be seen positively by the markets.

Shares of JSW Steel may also be in green zone on the profit that the company has reported in this quarter. Company reported a robust performance for the September quarter as it posted a consolidated PAT of Rs 691 crore in September quarter of the current fiscal as compared to net loss of Rs 669 crore in the same period last year.

We also expect positive movement in the shares of Andhra Pradesh based companies like Lanco Infra, GVK power, GMR infra as the state has got 4 seats in the government.
