Markets End on a Positive Note

Post Market Summary
The Indian markets taking cues from its global peers trade on a positive note throughout the day. Almost all the sectoral and broader indices close on a positive note with the only exception being the FMCG index closing the day in red decloning by more than half percentage points. Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas and Realty indices received maximum buying interest closing the day with a gain of more that two percentage points. The Sensex closed the day in green gaining 199.73 points or 1.14 percentage points to close at 17,774.26. The Nifty too closed on a positive note gaining 64.45 points or 1.22 percentage points to close at 5333.50. On the global front, European stocks gained for the first time in five days as an advance in automakers outweighed a retreat by retailers. U.S. index futures advanced while Asian shares were little changed.
