Healthcare, Metal Drag Nifty Below 6000 Mark

The Indian markets slipped below the 6000 mark post noon session. The broader Nifty fell by 11 points to end at 5987, closing below the psychologically important levels of 6000 and Sensex closed down by 30 points at 19,751.

The broader Nifty fell by 11 points to end at 5987, closing below the psychologically important levels of 6000 and Sensex closed down by 30 points at 19,751. Both the indices - Nifty and Sensex - closed down in the range of 0.15%-0.19%.
The advance-decline ratio ended on a negative side at the end of the day. On the NSE, 947 shares closed in red and 481 shares closed in green.
Top 5 NSE Gainers: Tata Motors ended up by 3.50% as the top gainer on NSE, followed by UltraTech Cement, HDFC, Asian Paints and DLF.
Top 5 NSE Losers: Bank of Baroda ended the day as the top loser on NSE, down by 7.36%, followed by IDFC, Jaiprakash Associates, Ranbaxy and BHEL.
Most sectors ended in red. Healthcare, Power and Metal closed down in the range of 1.26%-1.50%. The only sector that closed in green is Auto, up by 0.54%.
The European markets are trading flat with a negative bias. FTSE 100 is trading in a negative zone, down by 0.32%. DAX and CAC 40 are trading flat with a negative bias.
Their Asian peers closed mixed. Taiwan Weighted ended up by 0.85% followed by Nikkei 225, Shanghai Composite and Straits Times. KOSPI and Hang Seng closed down in the range 0.16%-0.23%.
Buzzers: Godrej Consumer closed at Rs 753.80, up by 5.77%. The stock touched an intraday high of Rs 763.95 and a low of Rs 711.85. The stock has been sideways. It has seen a jump in price backed by heavy volumes. The stock witnessed a volume of more than 5,00,000.
Asian Paints has outperformed the index in the last couple of trading sessions. The stock touched a new 52-week high in today’s trade. It saw a good run up in the last hour of trade along with good volumes. The scrip closed at Rs 4642.95 up by 2.21%.
Nifty saw a sluggish trade in today’s session. Investors and traders are eyeing the expiry day.
