Best Tax Saving Fund

Q. I am regular reader of Dalal Street Journal since 1991. It is very much useful to build my portfolio and today my investment portfolio is quite handsome. Since last five years, I have been investing in ELSS schemes every year through SIP route in two schemes. This year, I have already made investment in SIP of Franklin Templeton Tax Saver Fund, but I am very much confused for the second fund. I have selected the following funds.
1. HDFC Long Term Advantage Fund
2. HDFC Tax Saver fund
3. Principal Tax Saver Fund
4. SBI Magnum Tax Gain
Kindly advice me which fund is the best for next five years.

A. Keyur, your Franklin India Tax Shield is among the better tax saving funds. Sundaram Tax Saver and Fidelity Tax Advantage have actually done better than all the above on a three year basis. They stand out on risk adjusted return parameters, too. It would make sense to choose among these two for your second ELSS.
