DSIJ selects two aggressive stocks picks in every issue, with a seven to 15 days horizon based upon the bullish trend during that period. For this issue, we are recommending companies from the Oil & Gas and Printing sectors.

Gulf Oil Corporation | BSE Code: 506480 | Volume: 69572 | CMP: Rs 81

What do you think of a company that has never reported any decline for almost a decade? We present to you one such company promoted by the Hinduja Group - Gulf Oil Corporation. It operates through four major divisions namely Lubricants, Industrial Explosives, Mining & Infrastructure Services and Property Development. In the last few years, the company has taken steps to bring its house in order by hiving off or selling some of its non-core assets. Also, the company is looking at demerging its lubricants business, which can be a game changer for the company. The property division of the company is also expected to bring in some positive surprises soon. These developments are likely to act as a trigger for the share prices of the company in the near term. One can look at the scrip from a medium-term perspective.

D B Corp | BSE CODE: 533151 | Volume: 5298 | CMP: Rs 274

DB Corp (DBCL) has reported strong numbers for the recently concluded Q1FY14. These results were backed by the 20 per cent growth witnessed in the advertisement revenue and EBITDA margins which stood at a robust 30 per cent. With the general elections just a few months away, this kind of growth on the advertisement front is likely to continue. This can act as a positive trigger for the company going forward. On the other hand, there has been an improvement in the circulation revenues too. Growth in this segment, for the eighth consecutive quarter, stands at 17 per cent on a YoY basis for the quarter ended June 2013. A good operating leverage and a lower-than-expected hike in raw material costs have helped the company clock in a 74 per cent jump on the EBITDA front. We feel that there is still a lot of steam remaining in this counter. One can hence look at the scrip from a medium-term perspective.
